I’m happy Saland did the right thing. Although I’ve never voted for him in the past, his courage in going against his party’s bosses will probably get my vote the next time around.

Great piece, Steve. I am suspect of Molinaro though. His remarks are sort of vague. I know exactly what and who he is talking about when he said "and I’ll tell you, everybody follows the nepotism law except the board of elections, which will change if I get elected. I have no tolerance for that kind of thing.”

Most folks are absorbing far more radiation from their cell phones and routers, than the 1.6 W/kg the FDA has set as a legal limit, known as SAR, specific absorbtion rate. Because the SAR was created originally using a 6ft, 200 lb man, with an 11 lb head, it follows naturally, that most of us will absorb far more, as our heads and bodies are smaller and more permeable.
Second, the farther a signal must travel, or the lower the battery in your cell phone, the more radiation it kicks out. So ironically, if you're miles from a tower, using a cell phone, you'll get more radiation than would a person in a city, where towers and boosters reside among residents. Of course the hot spots in the cities have off set significantly, the background radiation, to unsafe levels, so you're exposure in the cities is higher anyway.
Third, people are using cell phones in cars, which increases the radiation beacause the signal bounces off the metal housing within the car, significantly adding to your exposure. Elevators and trains are worse. And finally, cell phones are only part of the picture. We get exposure from our Wi-fi routers at home, at work, and out, socially, be it the coffee shop, the book store or a restaurant. Then we go to sleep, with the router still humming? It's an enormous lengthy, daily bath, in radio waves. And this is how the SAR's that cell phone companies have been forced to print in the manuals for each cell phone is far exceeded and frankly, meaningless. We have to be texting more than talking, wired instead of wireless and informed. By the way, I'm appreicative of your comments and support of this issue. Spread the word, and refer others to the article. I'll submit another, down the line, geared more to being safe in a wireless world.

Thank you for writing this article. As you note it is easy to become overwhelmed by the growing and seemingly endless list of 'dangers' in our modern world, however it does not mean they should be ignored. We pulled the Wifi device out of our home following a conversation with you. I believe it has made a difference, as some low-grade headaches I had been having disappeared. It just makes sense that these devices are not good for our bodies.

You should have attended the Pow Wow on the Hudson Memorial Day Weekend at Bowdoin County Park. Things are looking up here in the Hudson Valley. Myself I'm descended from Mohicans and Wappingers, among other native nations.

Thank you for writing this. I wish I had written it. I've been researching for two years to understand why so few people, and in particular so few medical practitioners, would even consider believing what became so obvious to me once I became sensitized to all forms of EMR. The depth and complexity of the corporate cover up going on with regard to public exposure to non ionizing radiation is mind boggling. It has been frightening to watch how quickly our society is becoming reliant on technologies that are a whole new form of environmental toxicity, at a time when we desperately need to focus on cleaning up environmental contaminants, not adding whole new layers of them. I am particularly afraid that those in the clean tech industry will try to solve the climate change problem by employing technologies that will only increase our overexposure to EMR. Maybe articles like this will sway such a trend.

Succinct article. I have varying degrees of electrosensitivity after a toxic reaction to Ciprofloxacin (a fluroquinolone antibiotic) which can cause multi systemic damage from nervous system to collagen. Prior to this I was a super fit athlete unaffected by computers, wifi, mobile phones etc Alas I find myself in this new world. After reading this article I looked up how far the nearest mobile phone masts are - I have three one street away under 50 meters.

Due to the adverse side effects from the medication I was given unnecessarily I have had MRI (non ionizing radiation) scans which appear to correlate with worsening symptoms.

I currently have to drive, use computers and mobile phones for work so life is now very complicated.
